Women’s Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres’ mission is to end domestic violence and sexual assault by providing intervention and prevention services in a culturally-sensitive way. Through crisis counseling, safe shelter, legal assistance and advocacy, we help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to become survivors and repair their lives.

Women’s Crisis Support ~ Defensa de Mujeres also works to prevent domestic and sexual violence before it occurs by conducting workshops for families, neighborhood outreach, and programs for children that break the inter-generational cycle of violence.

WCS~DDM Provides:

Crisis Intervention Crisis Intervention

Calling our 24-hour crisis line puts clients immediately in touch with an Advocate, who will provide crisis counseling, referrals and information about domestic violence or sexual assault, and assist the caller in developing a safety plan. Advocates may also provide emergency response for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault. Click on the link to learn more about our Crisis Intervention program and our Support Groups and Legal Assistance.

Children & YouthChildren & Youth

The Children and Youth Program provides services that give children and youth the opportunity to unlearn attitudes and behaviors that could otherwise cause them to perpetuate the cycle of violence in their adult relationships. Individual counseling sessions are available by appointment in order to help children and teens understand that domestic violence is not their fault and to teach them alternative coping skills.

Emergency ShelterEmergency Shelter

The Women’s Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres emergency shelter, the Mariposa House, has been providing shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault since 1977. Clients needing safe shelter will be referred for shelter screening after their initial crisis intervention contact
